We bring people together. Including ourselves.

wHO we are

We are a group of independent event producers/directors. We produce festivals, conferences, private events and happenings in Portland, Oregon (and around the world!). We are each independent producers with our own books of business, but we frequently work together. Visit our sites through the Supernovas page to learn about each of us.

If you have a project that could use our combined powers, it’s our favorite way to work. We’re great individually, but together, we’re extraordinary. Reach out to us to start a conversation.

THE NOVA

We meet once a month to talk business, money, and life.

We provide community, brainstorming, and support when the work gets tough.

We exchange industry secrets, tips, tricks, and resources; the goal being an industry standard of work and pay.

We are each others’ boast bitches, and we hire each other.

We give each other a kick back of fees earned from referred leads.

We volunteer at each others’ events.

We work smarter, and harder, and better- because of each other.

We recognize our access and privilege, working to dismantle oppression.

We work to be as inclusive as possible at each event we produce by seeking to be accomplices, not just allies.

We work to include accessibility services like ASL, closed captioning, ADA seating, sensory warnings, codes of conduct, etc.

We encourage and support the selection of speakers whose voices are often marginalized.

OUR COMMITMENT

We recognize our access and our privilege, and are constantly striving to become accomplices for marginalized voices.

We are always looking to create event atmospheres that are welcoming to diverse audiences- but we need to do more. We look for the most important voices when choosing speakers- not just the loudest. We start with physical accessibility needs, but also consider how to reach introverts, sensory-sensitive folx, gender non-binary attendees, and more. We’re always looking for vendors who are BiPoC or LGBTQIA2S+.

Most importantly, we keep our ears and hearts open when we are exposed to new communities, and try our best to learn as we go.

What does this mean? This means when our audience is comprised of a particular demographic, we seek strong voices from those demographics and directly ask how we can create an environment that is comfortable and edifying for their community. And pay those contributors for their time and expertise.
